The company was founded in 2016 and has now expanded out of its headquarters in Sweden to Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the U.K and is now in its initial phase of launch in the U.S. 

FirstVet covers nearly seven million pets worldwide. 

The role: 

FirstVet is looking for a Commercial Manager for its New York office. As a Commercial Manager, you will have an important role in growing the organization in the U.S. together with the U.S. Country Manager. Your main mission will be to help the local team build out the infrastructure needed to scale our growth and identify opportunities in order to reach FirstVet’s aggressive growth targets. 

This means that no two days will look the same!  Representing FirstVet in meetings with partners or regulatory authorities, managing the onboarding and marketing of partner relationships and assisting in commercial prospecting across the U.S. are some examples of the broad variety of tasks that lie ahead of you.  We are looking for a general utility player that can hit the ground running leveraging past experience combined with a humble bias for action.  

This is a full-time role based at our office in New York. However, during this specific time, we follow the guidelines from the local health authority and work remotely.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead partner onboarding and relationship management
  • Represent FirstVet in meetings with customers, partners, and regulatory authorities including delivering presentations, demos, etc.
  • Identify and execute ways to increase utilization of partners, manage reporting and analytics
  • Assist in vetting business development opportunities
  • Identify improvements and opportunities to reach FirstVet’s growth targets
  • Manage projects involving cross-departmental teams
  • Facilitate close cooperation with our operations and management team in Stockholm
  • Be willing to take on new projects and approach challenges with a “can-do” attitude

To be successful in this role, we believe that you are a team player who always strives to deliver outstanding results. You are a self-starter, passionate about building a business from scratch with a strong analytical mindset. You have a high level of comfort with financial / business modeling and you enjoy working in a role where the roadmap is clear but the rest is up to you. You always get things done, understand the balance between time and cost, and never miss out on quality and delivery. You are also a humble and enthusiastic people-person.

Apart from that we also believe that you should ideally:

  • Have at least 3 years of experience in business, preferably in a fast-paced, high growth environment (e.g. startup) or a tech company
  • Have a relevant academic degree 
  • Have strong business acumen
  • Work proactively with an ability to navigate and prioritize among projects while working with a wide variety of stakeholders across the organization
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Manage projects independently and lead cross-departmental teams to ensure timely completion
  • Work well with international teams and build consensus across different types of parties

Apart from the above-mentioned requirements, it goes without saying that an interest in animals is highly desirable. We’re a pet-orientated organisation and it’s not unusual for a dog or cat to join our Zoom calls!
