FirstVet 🐶 has since we started in 2016 been building a digital platform aiming to create a world where every pet can thrive, not just survive - no matter the circumstances. In order to facilitate FirstVet’s continuous international growth, we’re strengthening our tech team.

The role:

You will work in a small cross-functional autonomous team focusing on building the future of pet care by developing our product. Regardless of your experience, we are expecting you to actively challenge yourself as well as your colleagues in improving our services. You have the ability to have a great impact on shaping how we work with data, what technologies you will use and you will closely collaborate with our Data Analysts. Your main responsibility will be to define and build up our data infrastructure and data pipelines, designing our data and analytics environment as well as influence architectural decisions. You will join FirstVet as our first Data Engineer, being responsible of building up the setup from scratch but also initiating projects built on our user data to accelerate the future of petcare.

Your responsibilities:

🚀 Build data pipelines orchestrating data processing (ETL or ELT) where data is stored reliably in a data lake as well as providing warehouse capabilities.

🤝 Set a vision for our data engineering platform and work hands-on with implementing that vision.

🚛 Help drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve data quality.

🔍 Taking on learning and leadership opportunities in educating tech & product teams how to work with tracking, event driven architectures and data collection.

We believe you have:

🤘Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role

🧑‍💻Technical skills:

• Pig/Hive/BigQuery/other SQL-like abstractions.
• Data workflow/job orchestration using Apache Airflow/Stich/Luigi/Argo or similar.
• Programming in Python or R.
• Building pipelines using Kafka/Segment/Rudderstack or other event-driven frameworks.
• Proficient with setting up & managing infrastructure in cloud services, preferably AWS & GCP.

🤖 You are knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques.

🦾 You have experience with agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation.

🤝 You understand the value of collaboration and partnership within a team.

🌍 Fluency in English both in speech and writing since we are a global organization, currently present in seven markets.

Apart from the above-mentioned requirements, it goes without saying that an interest in animals is highly desirable. We’re a pet-oriented organization and it’s not unusual to run into our office dogs or for a cat to join our Zoom calls!
